university hospital

of Henri Mondor

The university hospital of Henri Mondor is part of the Assitance Publique des Hôpitaux de Paris “APHP”. It’s one of the largest academic hospitals in Paris and linked to the University UPEC “Université Paris Est Créteil”. The department of diagnostic and interventional radiology is part of the Medical University Department
“DMU FIxIT”. Our hospital has one of the most large and modern Interventional centers including multidisciplinary specialties Interventional Radiology, Neurointerventional Radiology, Interventional cardiology and endoscopy.
The fields of expertise in Interventional Radiology are: oncologic pathology and more specifically “hepatology, urology, gastroenterology and hematology”, cardiovascular pathology, trauma center.

Contribution to PreciseOnco

APHP will be coordinating the Work Package : SPECTRA-L (Spectral Performance Evaluation of a CTEquipped Therapeutic Radiology Angio Suite in Liver): Testing spectral imaging for transarterial chemoembolization procedures.

Team

Pr. Hicham Kobeiter, MD, PhD

Pr. Hicham Kobeiter, MD, PhD, is Chairman of the Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology and Neuroradiology Departments at AP‑HP Henri Mondor University Hospital (UPEC) in Créteil, France, and has been Professor of Radiology and Interventional Radiology since 2007. He is Past President of the French Society of Interventional Radiology (SFICV), Co‑President of the French Federation of Interventional Radiology (FRI), and a member of the CIRSE Membership Committee and the scientific committee of the Pan‑Arab Interventional Radiology Society (PAIRS). He serves as Deputy Chair of IDEAS‑CIRSE (2023–2025) and will be Chair for 2025–2026.

His research focuses on optimizing image guidance and treatments in aortic, liver, and prostate interventions.

Dr. Haytham Derbel, MD, PhD

Dr. Haytham Derbel, MD, PhD, is an Interventional Radiology Consultant at the Medical Imaging Department of Henri Mondor University Hospital (AP‑HP) in France and Head of Medical Imaging at Léon Binet Hospital in Provins. He specializes in vascular and oncologic interventional radiology as well as cardiovascular diagnostic imaging. His clinical expertise includes intra‑arterial, percutaneous, and combined therapies for liver malignancies, along with endovascular treatment of portal hypertension and liver vascular diseases. Dr. Derbel has a strong focus on innovation in image guidance, particularly cone‑beam CT and image‑fusion techniques.

His research centers on medical image processing, optimization of tumor targeting in liver cancer therapies, and cardiovascular imaging, with multiple scientific publications in these fields.

Mario Ghosn, MD, MSc

Mario Ghosn, MD, MSc, is an Attending Interventional Radiologist at CHU Henri Mondor in Créteil, France, and an alumnus of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), where he completed a research fellowship from 2020 to 2021. His clinical and pre-clinical research focuses on interventional oncology, specifically intra-tumoral immunotherapy (CAR T cells), thermal ablation of liver, advanced liver therapies such as Y-90 and TACE, and the development of imaging biomarkers to predict tumor response and patient survival.

Dr. Ghosn has led experimental studies involving transgenic porcine models for lung cancer and innovative augmented fluoroscopy-guided transbronchial microwave ablation – work that earned him the SIO Oral Abstract Award in 2022.

Dr. Antoine Marchi, MD

Dr. Antoine Marchi, MD is a Radiology Fellow at Hôpital Henri Mondor, part of Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris. He specializes in interventional radiology and cardiothoracic imaging. During his residency, he developed a strong interest in endovascular therapies and completed his thesis on prostatic artery embolization. He also holds a Master’s degree in Biomedical Imaging from Université Paris-Saclay, during which he worked on the numerical modeling of pulmonary hypertension.

His current and future research focuses on the contribution of spectral CT in interventional radiology, particularly in optimizing endovascular and percutaneous treatments for liver tumors
