Quantum surgical
Quantum Surgical, a company specializing in robotics and AI, is developing the Epione® robotic-assisted
percutaneous ablation platform. It assists physicians in planning trajectories, positioning treatment
needles, and confirming adequate margins have been taken, in order to facilitate and standardize these
minimally invasive procedures
Contribution to PreciseOnco
Through this research project, Quantum Surgical will explore how Epione can further support spectralguided
interventional procedures. Specifically, in Work Package 1, we will assess the performance of AI
segmentation tools for accurate delineation of tumors and ablation zones in spectral images. In Work
Package 3, we will develop and evaluate robotic guidance solutions tailored to spectral procedures and
electrochemotherapy.

Gladys Léger
Gladys Léger is the AI Manager at Quantum Surgical, developing image processing algorithms for Quantum Surgical Epione platform. In 2016, she received her double engineering degree from Ecole Centrale Marseille and TU Wien in Medical Physics and Imaging.
She joined Quantum Surgical in 2019 after an experience in developing image processing and data sciences prototypes for the industry as a consultant. Since then, she has worked on medical image registration, anatomy segmentation and data management activities.
David Decobecq
David Decobecq is the Software Manager at Quantum Surgical, where he leads a department of 30 engineers developing the Epione robotic platform for interventional oncology. With a solid academic background, including a Master’s degree (DEA) in Electronics applied to Imaging and Ultrasound, David has spent over 20 years mastering software reliability in highly demanding sectors. A specialist in
software validation and quality strategy, he has a proven track record of establishing rigorous QA processes for global tech leaders such as Lucent Technologies, Verifone, and Parrot.
David ensures that the integration of robotic guidance and medical imaging meets the highest standards of clinical safety and CE/FDA regulatory compliance, bridging the gap between innovative research and industrial-grade software reliability
Yann Le Meur
Yann Le Meur is the Director of Innovation & Technology at Quantum Surgical, responsible for innovation or advanced technology development projects, from definition to project execution. Yann holds an Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Science & Image Processing from Grenoble INP, and a PhD from the same University, performed in partnership with Trixell, a world-leading manufacturer of digital detectors for x-ray medical imaging. Yann has more than 20 years of experience in R&D for medical devices, with a background in medical imaging, image chain and X-Ray physics built from his positions at Trixell (4 years), and GE HealthCare (9 years).
Yann joined Quantum Surgical in 2018, expanding his expertise to medical robotics and navigation systems, and participated to the design and development of the Epione robotic platform, from early prototype to a device used for standard clinical practice.
Stéphane Amalfi
Stéphane Amalfi is the Director of Engineering at Quantum Surgical, which he joined in 2019. He has a background in mechanical engineering with a PhD in fluid mechanics. He has 20 years of experience developing medical devices for a variety of applications, including needle-free drug delivery systems, automated endoscope reprocessing systems, cardiovascular implants, and stent placement systems for the treatment of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms.
For the past 11 years, he has specialized in medical robotics, working on applications for spine, brain, and knee surgery, before focusing on interventional oncology at Quantum Surgical.
Mathias Cisaruk
